When someone first uses any product, a disorderly arrangement of buttons may confuse the user. The ND series’ main concept was to compliment a user’s natural approach, for an intuitive operation. At the beginning of the designing stage, the fundamental components to be included were listed; such as the speaker unit, buttons, docking cradle, various ports, etc.

 

Next, the components that the user personally had to handle were separated from the ones that they did not have to touch. The final designs include two clear volumes that are asymmetrically intersecting one another. One volume houses components that produce sound, while the other volume includes components that are related to user interaction and operation. The two volumes, contrasting in shape and function, are merged to simplify the complicated moment of recognition, enabling intuitive operation of the product.
